Hello Reader
My Black Star Fam,
It has been a while since I have reached out to you so in this spirit of Thanksgiving, I want to say THANK YOU for being a subscriber and supporting Black Star Physical Therapy and Wellness. How are you doing? I have been focusing on spending quality time with family, caring for my mom and preparing for the Holidays stress free! This December newsletter, I am sharing my December affirmation as well as some tips to help you incorporate wellness this Holiday season. No matter what you are going through, remember to prioritize yourself and your health!
As we move deeper into this month, I’m leaning into a powerful affirmation:
“My journey is mine to define.”
This December, I’m choosing to slow down, listen closely to the word of God, and allow is guidance to shape my next steps. Maybe you’re feeling that same pull, to pause, reflect, and reconnect with yourself.
Small Story of Change… 23 Years Later
A few weeks ago, I finally let go of something I’d held onto for 23 years—my old Buffalo, NY phone number. I got it when I enrolled in PT grad school, and for decades I kept it, even while building my life here in Michigan.
So why change it now?
Because it felt right.
Because it feels like a fresh start.
Because I am releasing the parts of my past that kept me afraid of “what’s next.”
This past year taught me a surprising lesson:
My need to be in control was slowing my growth.
Being surrounded by a positive online community, rooted in my faith, and committed to my workouts and self-care helped me finally see how I was self-sabotaging without realizing it.
This year, I started saying no to things and people I once felt obligated to. And instead of guilt, I found peace. I found boundaries. I found calm.
In January I declared, “2025 is divine.”
I assumed that meant explosive business growth—but instead, I received opportunities that showed me what I’m ready for next. And now I’m taking the time to sit with that and prepare.
I’m empowering my own journey to wellness.
And I hope you do the same.
What Does Wellness Mean to You?
Your wellness matters.
Not the version others expect of you, your version.
I’d love to hear your definition.

Here is what wellness looks like for me!
4 Simple Ways to Support Your Wellness This Season
1. Daily Mobility (5–10 minutes)
Ease stiffness, improve circulation, and support joint health with short mobility sessions.
2. Five Minutes of Deep Breathing
Slow breathing calms your nervous system through your vagus nerve and helps reset stress and overwhelm.
3. Prioritize Whole Foods (Without Guilt)
This season is full of sweets; enjoy them but mix in more whole foods.
No guilt. No punishment workouts. Wellness is not all-or-nothing.
4. Move Your Body 3 Days a Week (30 Minutes)
Walks, strength training, kid-friendly workouts—whatever works.
Ladies 40+: muscle is your best friend.
My 10-year-old has been waking up early for a 15-minute morning workout, and I’ve been joining him. It’s a surprisingly energizing start to the day.
A Closing Word
This month, give yourself permission to define your own wellness.
Let go of what drains you.
Protect your peace.
Make room for what God is preparing you for.
Your journey is yours to define—and you deserve to feel whole along the way.
