Let’s Make 2025 the Year You Put Yourself First
Hi Reader,
If you're anything like me, you probably feel like there’s never enough time in the day. Between work, family, and everything else life throws at us, it’s easy to let your own needs fall to the bottom of the list.
But what if I told you that prioritizing yourself—even just a little each day—can transform not only your health but your peace of mind?
Let me share a little secret I’ve learned over the years. I’m not a morning person. Waking up at 5:15 AM used to sound impossible. But now, I use that time to quietly ease into my day. Some days I pray. Other days I catch up on emails or make my to-do list. It’s not perfect, and some mornings are just hard, but I show up for me before the responsibilities of family and work take over.
I didn’t always do this. After my second son, I struggled to find time to work out. I went from being a gym rat to feeling like I barely had a minute to myself. So, I started small: 30 minutes at home, in the basement, while my kids played or watched. Sometimes, I’d just sit quietly after exercising (don’t tell them!). That small habit? It taught my kids that mom deserves time for herself, and it gave me the strength and energy to show up for them.
Here are three things you can start doing today to prioritize YOU:
- Move your body for 30 minutes daily. Even if it’s a walk, stretching, or a quick workout, your body will thank you.
- Prioritize 7-9 hours of sleep. Rest is when your body recovers and your brain recharges. Less sleep? Higher stress and risk of injury.
- Eat your veggies! A plant-forward diet reduces inflammation, supports recovery, and boosts energy. Aim for 5 servings of fruits and veggies daily—yes, eat the rainbow!
